What is X?

I see that some people note the number of letterboxes (and/or stamps?) they
have Found, Placed and Xchanged. What is Xchanged?

I think it is when you might run across another 'boxer on the trail ,and
exchange stamped images in your journals.

The X means exchange, which people will do at the CT gathering. People
will stamp their stamp in your book and vice versa.
